Our recruitment methods

To keep up with the increasing pace of our international growth, BNP Paribas’ recruitment methodology is proactive and carefully monitored at various levels:

  • locally, in every country where BNP Paribas operates;
  • at the level of each global business; and
  • at Group level.

BNP Paribas has developed global processes, guidelines and HR best practices that are applied across the Group. This ensures an excellent working relationship with our recruiters and the highest standards of career development, regardless of locality.

BNP Paribas also keeps a careful eye on the local employment market and on the needs that candidates may have. It is for this reason that recruitment is handled locally.

The selection process adopted in a given country ensures that we recruit high-calibre people and comply with both local standards and the general rules of the BNP Paribas Group, including the principles of fairness and non-discrimination.

All the rules and principles applicable to the recruitment process in each country are formalised in our Ethical Standards, which are drawn up under the supervision of the Head of Human Resources of the country concerned. When a new person is recruited, the Ethical Standards are applied to everyone involved in the decision-making process.

What we are looking for

BNP Paribas Group’s primary objective is to achieve excellence throughout the organisation. In order to maintain shareholder confidence and customer loyalty, the bank requires a high level of competence, commitment and professionalism, and an exemplary work ethic.

ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

50% of our recruits are young graduates or final-year students and the other 50% have at least 3 years’ experience. For B2B posts, graduates are normally required, while final-year students are also considered for sales positions.

The skills and knowledge that we are looking for in candidates vary widely according to the different roles that we need to fill. We generally prefer people with an economics or a banking/finance background, combined with a strong customer focus.

Language skills are very welcome, although French is not essential.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALITIES

We are looking for 3 key skills and qualities:

  • Adaptability and a capacity to respond proactively to change
  • Team focus and good communication skills
  • Ability to persuade and a service-oriented mindset.
