In 2005 BNP Paribas’ workforce became much more international with more than half its 110,000 employees now working outside France. This expansion has created new requirements for internal and external communications.
A strengthening of the European communications function has been under way since 2004, and this will continue. A number of appointments are hereby announced which will improve the coherence of our communication globally and reflect the Group’s cultural diversity.
Michèle Sicard, until now Group Head of Media Relations and Internal Communications, will from now on be Head of Corporate Communications for BNP Paribas in North America. In this new role she will be the Group’s spokeswoman in North America and be based in New York. In addition, Michèle will ensure the necessary coordination between the Group head office and BancWest, its retail banking subsidiary in the western United States. She will be a member of the Group’s Communications Coordination Committee.
Jonathan Mullen, until now Head of Corporate Communications for BNP Paribas in the UK, will become the Group Head of Media Relations and Internal Communications, based in Paris. In this role he will be in charge of the Group’s press office, internal publications and intranet content. He will ensure consistency between the Group press office and those of its subsidiaries and other entities. He will continue to be responsible for the London communications team on a provisional basis.
Furthermore, Lavina Chan, Head of Corporate Communications in North and East Asia (China, Hong Kong and Taiwan) will become a member of the Group’s Communications Coordination Committee.
These appointments will take effect from 15 April 2006.
