BNL, a subsidiary of BNP Paribas in Italy, has been a Telethon partner for 19 years. The Telethon is a national event that supports medical research and the fight against a wide range of genetic diseases.
This year’s Telethon will take place in Italy on 17, 18 and 19 of December and BNL will mobilize over 14,200 employees, 100,000 families and individuals, as well as 20,000 companies.
For 19 years, BNL has been responsible for the nation-wide collection of donations made predominantly as a result of three major fundraising events:
The “Maratona tv” (TV Marathon) – a televised event that is the most important of the Telethon events in terms of generating donations (in 2009, 13 million euros were raised through this televised show). It’s a continuous broadcast of scientific information and messages of solidarity and awareness, led by artists who support this cause.
The Tennis Telethon – a major sports and solidarity-related initiative launched in France in 2003, which consists of organising tennis tournaments in clubs that are Telethon members. 100% of the profits raised by these tournaments are donated to scientific research.
A range of events throughout the country: over 1,000 cultural, sporting, artistic and culinary events will take place over a two-month period.
