All set fair for the 2012 Telethon which will see BNL supporting scientific research for the 21st consecutive year, having raised over 223 million euro of funds so far. The biggest new development this year regards the length of the telethon, which will run from 9-16 December. A week of fundraising on all of the Rai channels, rather than the traditional three days, to raise awareness of genetic illnesses among the Italian public.
Telethon has formed part of BNL’s DNA since 1992; it is an integral part of the projects and goals of its 15,000 employees, all of whom are involved in this charity initiative together with customers and friends. Support that is manifest in the organisation of events and initiatives throughout the year to encourage donations to scientific research.
In this way, BNL raised 11.6 million euro in 2011 alone and this year has organised around a thousand cultural, art, music, entertainment and sports events across Italy.
