For the third consecutive year BNL BNP PARIBAS Group is the main sponsor of MIA Fair, confirming its interest for the development of contemporary art in Italy. The event will take place from the 23rd to 25th of May at the exhibition space Superstudio Più in Via Tortona.
MIA Fair is the most important exhibition of photography and video art in Italy which has become a cult event for experts of photography. It brings together well-known names such as Luigi Ghirri, Francesco Jodice, Hans Op de Beeck and Ottavio Celestini to those of young emerging artists, for a selection of art that meets the taste of all. MIA Fair, conceived in 2011, is based on: “one stand for each artist and each artist having his/her own catalogue”, thus offering the public a chance to see nearly 200 solo exhibitions in one place.
After the success of the past editions, the Bank will once again assign the BNL BNP Paribas Group Award to the best artist, selected by a qualified jury, among those showing their works by galleries. The selected work will be acquired by BNL and will become part of the Bank’s artistic patrimony which at present boasts 5,000 works, including masterpieces of classic and modern art, as well as works of talented young contemporary artists.
BNL will have a stand at MIA to offer a preview of two of the photographic works from the show, the sea is my land – Artists from the Mediterranean. The project, conceived and produced by BNL, curated by Francesco Bonami and Emanuela Mazzonis, will be exhibited at the Triennale in Milan and will be open to the public gratuitously from June 17th to August 24th 2014.
Among the appointments not to miss, we highlight the Round Table between Urs Sthael, curator of MAST Bologna and Francesco Bonami, curator of BNL’s exhibition the sea is my land. The discussion, entitled “Art and Business: aims and projects” will take place on Friday, May 23rd at 12.00 am at the conference room of Superstudio Più.
In 2014 MIA Fair doubles with the first edition of MIA Fair in Singapore, from 23 to 26 October, in the new art capital of the South Pacific area and one of the main world financial centers.
