BNP Paribas Cardif invests in the World Bank’s sustainable bonds

BNP Paribas Cardif, among the top ten insurance companies in Italy1, continues its commitment to sustainable causes. After signing last year, along with other companies of the BNP Paribas Group, the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) supported by the United Nations, the company invested in the bonds recently issued by the World Bank, created to promote the Sustainable Development Goals.

Within the financial world, in fact, the interest in companies that pay attention to these issues has been growing. Moreover, thanks to these new bonds from the World Bank, investors are for the first time directly linked to the performances of companies which count sustainable development goals among their priorities, including gender equality, health and infrastructure development.

These bonds will enable the World Bank to support the financing of projects that advance its goals of eliminating poverty and boosting shared prosperity, and that are aligned with the SDGs.

“As responsible investors we chose a recognized international organization, such as the World Bank, which offers products based on innovation and sustainability, two principles that are fundamental for us as a strategic competitive lever and a development’s key for the future”, says Isabella Fumagalli, CEO of BNP Paribas Cardif in Italy. “That’s why we immediately joined the initiative along with BNP Paribas Cardif France, by investing in an innovative product that combines financial performance and sustainability.”

During the recent years BNP Paribas Cardif in Italy promoted several Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives that cover different areas, from environmental to social, civic and economic responsibility. These projects aim to create value towards customers, employees, and the communities where the Company operates.

This corporate culture geared towards sustainable development, which also includes the direct engagement of the employees, led BNP Paribas Cardif in Italy to receive important awards.
