The cheque signed by BNL Gruppo BNP Paribas, with the 7.250 million euros collected this year, was presented to the Telethon Foundation on Saturday 21 December live on Rai1 by seven young employees of the Bank, to underline a commitment that is renewed over time, in the knowledge that research for the treatment of rare genetic diseases means hope for a better and positive future.
Once again this year, around 18,000 employees of BNL and the BNP Paribas Group companies in Italy involved customers, families, friends and the entire community of people close to the Bank and Telethon in a solidarity race to support the treatment of rare genetic diseases, in some cases even unknown.
Thanks in part to BNL- BNP Paribas – with over 300 million euros collected in 28 years of partnership – it has been possible to finance 2,630 research projects and the study of over 570 rare genetic diseases.
BNL’s partnership with the Telethon Foundation is one of the most successful fundraising cases in Europe and is a further element of the #PositiveBanking strategy that the Bank and the BNP Paribas Group develop by combining business and corporate aspects with sustainability. In this regard, the BNP Paribas Group has to date allocated over 168 billion euros to projects that directly contribute to the achievement of the 17 United Nations’ Sustainable Development Objectives (from the fight against poverty and inequality to environmental protection). The commitment for Telethon is part of UN Objective 3: “to ensure health and well-being for all and for all ages”.
It is possible to donate to Telethon all year round through BNL agencies, ATMs and the Bank’s various online and digital channels.
