FAQ - BNP Paribas Italy
BNP Paribas Italy Careers

Do I need a particular degree to apply?

No. Although we look for excellent educational achievements, we consider graduates of any discipline. We believe that a good fit with our company values is as important as academic success. We are also looking for the qualities that make for effective teamworking: self-esteem, motivation, excellent communication skills and respect for others. Most important of all, you need to be comfortable with technology, numbers and analytical thinking.

Do you take “career changers”?

We constantly evaluate the individual applications that we receive: when candidates from outside the banking sector have abilities that can add value to one of our businesses, we include them in the selection process.

Do I need to speak French to work at BNP Paribas?

No. We are an international bank, and so the language of the Group is English. Nevertheless, fluency in any other language is always an advantage.

What stages does your recruitment process involve?

The process may vary according to which part of the business you are interested in; please check the individual companies’ websites.

If I want to work in another country (outside my country of origin), how can I apply?

You can browse our Vacancies to see which countries currently have opportunities. You can apply directly through the local BNP Paribas websites.

How is BNP Paribas different from other banks?

We believe that global success can only come from local success. Because local success is normally driven by people who really know their market, BNP Paribas has developed a decentralised corporate model. Each company is managed at local level, and the managers are recruited locally. In other words, BNP Paribas is a multinational, rather than a globalised company. Working at BNP Paribas means having ample scope for the creativity that different cultures can bring. What’s more, employees have more exposure and responsibility here than they would in other, more centralised, organisations.

What is the culture of the organisation?

At BNP Paribas, our work is guided by four priorities:

  • Performance: at BNP Paribas, your drive can take you places.
  • Diversity: at BNP Paribas, you can make your ideas heard.
  • People: at BNP Paribas, you can pursue your goals.
  • Compliance: at BNP Paribas, you can use your skills.

If another company has given me a deadline to accept a job offer, what should I do?

We believe that candidates should have the opportunity to consider all offers. If you are holding an offer from another company and are awaiting a response from us, please let us know. We will do all we can to expedite the process and to help you make your decision based on all the information.

When do professional appraisals take place?

Appraisals take place annually, for all employees and at the same period of time, with an intermediate review held at the end of each first half year.

Is it possible to make cross-disciplinary moves between business lines?

Yes, it is. The Human Resources teams across the organisation work together to effectively match resources and needs. More generally speaking, Human Resources structures the internal labour market locally in order to find the best match between staff transfer requests and the needs of the company.

Are there opportunities to work abroad?

Yes, we are looking for people with an international outlook. BNP Paribas is a global group; its employees must therefore have the ability to manage international matters when they arise. Some employees will have the chance to work abroad from the beginning or at a later stage in their career within the Group.

What is the average annual salary increase and bonus?

There is no set average annual salary increase or bonus; these are based on company results and the individual employee’s performance.

What type of training programmes do you provide?

We provide internal workshops, internal and external classroom-based courses, on-line programmes, as well as seminars and conferences. The training programmes are designed at corporate, business and local level.
